Inspirational Quilt Sweepstakes FAQs

DISCLAIMER: The answers to these FAQ’s are for general information only and shall not be deemed to supersede or replace the Official Rules which govern this Sweepstakes.

When does the sweepstakes BEGIN and END? The Sweepstakes begins on December 1, 2009 at 12:00:00 PM PT and ends at 11:59:59 AM PT on January 29, 2010.

Only videos uploaded between December 1, 2009 and 11:59:59 PM PT on January 26, 2010 will be accepted as an entry.

How to I enter the sweepstakes?
You will be registered for the Sweepstakes when you submit an inspirational story video using one of the following two methods:

  1. Upload a video of an inspirational story on the Extraordinary Measures website www.extraordinarymeasuresthemovie.com no later than 11:59:59 PM PT on January 26, 2010.
  2. Submit a video of an inspirational story on DVD by regular mail, post marked no later than January 23, 2010 to the following address:

What qualifies as an inspirational story?
We are looking for uplifting stories that include themes of triumph over tragedy, overcoming adversity, overcoming illness/disability/injury, acts of altruism, generosity and simple heroism. The Quilt is a community expressing the power of good in the human spirit, and a platform to share and connect stories of hope and inspiration.

What is the minimum age to enter the sweepstakes?
You must be at least 18 years of age or older at the date of entry to be included into the Sweepstakes. If you are under 18 years of age, you may still submit a video onto the Inspirational Quilt, but your entry will not be included as an eligible Sweepstakes entry.

How many times can a person enter the sweepstakes?
You may submit one video to the Inspirational Quilt and Sweepstakes. Do not upload duplicate videos. Your video must conform to the Official Rules.

Is there any fee/cost to enter the sweepstakes?
There are no fees, costs, or purchases necessary to enter the Sweepstakes.

Can people outside of the U.S. enter sweepstakes?
This Sweepstakes is only open to U.S. residents. If you are a resident outside of these areas you may still submit a video onto the Inspirational Quilt, but your entry will not be included as an eligible entry in the Sweepstakes.

What is the prize?
The winner will be able to designate a charity of their choice to receive a $10,000 contribution from CBS Films. Recipient organization chosen by the Winner must comply with Official Rules.

When will the prize be announced?
The random drawing will take place on or about February 5, 2010. The Grand Prize Winner will be announced on or about February 8, 2010.

How is a winner selected?
Odds of winning the Grand Prize depend on the number of eligible video entries and votes received during the submission period. Each vote on your video is another “entry point” into the Sweepstakes. The more votes a video receives the more chances the video entrant has to be selected as the winner. You are still in the drawing even if your video receives zero votes because you receive one Sweepstakes entry for submitting your video.

How often can I vote on the videos?
You may vote only once per day per person per video. If you wish to vote for every video in the Quilt you may, but only once per day.

Can I sign someone else up for the sweepstakes?
No you cannot sign someone else up for the Sweepstakes. The entrant must be the rightful owner, or have authorized use of, the email used on the entry form.

What types of charities are eligible to receive the prize?
The charity or organization of the Winner’s choice must comply with the established criteria of Section 501 of The United States Code as well as other restrictions set forth in the Official Rules.

How do I enter an organization into the sweepstakes?
You enter yourself into the Sweepstakes by submitting a video to the Inspirational Quilt. The Winner of the Sweepstakes will choose a recipient organization after notification and validation.

Can the winner split the prize and donate to more than one charity?
No, the Winner must choose only one (1) organization to be the recipient of the $10,000.

How can I tell others about the Sweepstakes or tell others to vote on my video?
There are several ways for you to spread the word about your video in the Inspirational Quilt. On the official Extraordinary Measures website (https://extraordinarymeasuresthemovie.com) you may:

  1. Click on the “Tell A Friend” button to send your friend a message via email,
  2. Click on the Share with A Friend button on your individual video player to send a message via email
  3. Join the Extraordinary Measures Facebook page,
  4. Follow on the Extraordinary Measures Twitter,
  5. Contribute a tweet through the Tweet Across America platform, or
  6. To help you get the word out we have a banner which you can post on your site, blog or other web page by copying the embed code below:

What kind of confirmation will I receive after I entered the sweepstakes?
Upon successful upload of a video onto the Inspirational Quilt a window will appear which confirms receipt of video as well as entry into the Sweepstakes. An email confirmation will also be sent. If you do not believe you have received this confirmation, please contact the administrators at: [email protected]

How do I let the sweepstakes sponsor know that a posted video infringes my rights?
Please see section 5 in our Terms of Use.”

Inspirational Quilt Uploading Videos FAQs

How do I upload a video? On the Inspirational Quilt page of the Extraordinary Measures website (insert the URL here of the Inspirational Quilt page), click on the UPLOAD YOUR STORY button found on the left hand side of the page.

Fill in the required information on the Upload Your Video entry form to submit your video. After successful submittal of your video you will receive a confirmation to the email address you provided as well as a pop up window alerting you to successful upload and entry into Sweepstakes.

What formats are accepted?
All standard video formats are accepted, such as .mov, .flv, and .wmv.

How long will it take my video to appear on the Quilt?
Standard transfer and format times associated with upload, storage and display of video files should be expected.

What about inappropriate content?
All users have access to a FLAG button on every video. Flagging a video alerts Sweepstakes administrators of potential conflict with Official Rules.

May I upload more than one video?
No. Please see the Official Rules for more details.

Are there file size and video length limitations?

  1. Video cannot be more than ten (10) minutes in length and no less than fifteen (15) seconds in length,
  2. Video file(s) cannot exceed 250 MB in size.

What video content is not appropriate?

  1. disparaging, abusive, libelous, defamatory, obscene, vulgar, offensive, indecent,
  2. sexually explicit, sexually suggestive, offensive, illegal, pornographic, obscene
  3. promotes or incites violence, racial hatred, terrorism, illegal acts
  4. infringes on any third party’s copyright or trademark
  5. or any other materials that might be considered in bad taste

Submissions of the nature described above will be flagged by the community, removed and will not be eligible for the Sweepstakes. See Official Rules for more details.

What will happen to my videos when the Sweepstakes are over?
Your videos will remain on the Inspirational Quilt until such a time when CBS Films removes the website.

How do I remove my video from the Inspirational Quit?
If you would like to remove your video from the Inspirational Quilt for any reason, please contact the administrators at: [email protected]

Tweet Across America FAQs

What is the Tweet Across America?
Tweet Across America is an online Twitter-based platform that allows to you spread messages of inspiration and hope throughout America. When you tweet from the Tweet Across America page, or use Twitter hashtags #EM or #extraordinarymeasures in your tweet, your message will show up on the map.

How do I Tweet Across America? If you do not already have a Twitter account, please create your account. You can do this from the Tweet Across America page.

If you already have a Twitter account, sign in with your Twitter username and password and write your messages of 140 characters or less. Once you click TWEET! your messages will be placed on the map based upon your geographical location.

How does Tweet Across America determine my geographical location on the map?
The Tweet Across America platform will place your tweet icon on the map based first upon the information entered into Twitter account profile and secondly on the IP address of the device that you are using.

If I tweet from my own Twitter account and not the Tweet Across America page, will my tweet show up on the map?
You tweet will only show up on the Tweet Across America map if you include the Twitter hash tags in your tweet: #extraordinarymeasures or #EM

Is there any way to remove my Tweet from the map?
If you would like to remove your tweet from the Tweet Across America, please contact the administrators at: [email protected]

What do the colored icons (the orange, blue, and green) on the Tweet Across America map mean?

  1. A green icon represents your tweet.
  2. A blue icon represents tweets your friends have made. If icons on the map are blue, that means you are following them.
  3. An orange icon represents tweets made by other participants not currently connected to you.

What are these lines that appear and seem to connect certain icons?
Tweet Across America looks for common words and phrases in the tweets on the map and connects icons with lines based upon similar conversation content. The word or phrase in common between connected icons appears on the line. Different words or phrases are assigned different colored lines.

I am having technical difficulties with the Tweet Across America Interface). Who can I contact?
